More Information
This tutorial covers the recording of a droplet and
we have chosen to use a droplet to convert high resolution RAW files into smaller
Jpeg images for easy evaluation.
Our video
runs for over 23 minutes and includes the droplets we created during this tutorial.
A droplet is a way that we can make a single or multiple adjustment to a whole
folder of images automatically via a simple drag and drop process. In our example
we have chosen to create the droplet to convert RAW images to Jpeg and re-size
them. One reason for doing this may be to store the folder of smaller jpeg images
with the raw files on a CD or DVD. The smaller jpeg images will then display quickly
in any software and we can use them to pick the image we want to work on next.
Once we select the small jpeg, we note the file name and open up the equivalent
high resolution RAW files. Trying to review high resolution RAW files from a storage
CD or DVD is not generally a quick process.
Of course
we can use droplets for any number of tasks. For example a wedding photographer
returning to base after a wedding shoot may wish to have a droplet to quickly
adjust large numbers of images to display to their customers. For example we could
program the droplet to open the RAW file, apply levels, we could re-size the image,
sharpen it a little and even add contact details and/or apply the word proof within
the image. We can then save the image to another folder.
Once
the original files are safe and duplicated, just drag the folder over the droplet
and the rest is done for you while you put your feet up.
