Get ahead of the game (posted 12th July2010) with this latest option from PicturesToExe. We are still working with a beta version of PTE 6.5, but the final release will be available very soon. We not only have all the basic sound editing tools as we demonstrated in our first sound editing video for HERE , but we now have the option to use the Envelope tool. The envelope tool makes adjusting the music or sound comment length easy and ut also allows us to add a fade out/in too. In addition we can reduce the volume of any sound file, either music, commentary or sound effects over a given length. This is essential to make sure your commentary and sound effects are not drowned out by the music.

One of the nicest Audio Visual techniques is differential focus where we take two shots of one subject. On one we focus on a foreground subject and allow the background to go out of focus and in the next we focus on the background and allow the foreground to go out of focus. Take a look at the technique in our slide show demo and download the video that will demonstrate how we can achieve perfect results using the auto align in Photoshop..

Choosing your Format - We have given many lectures and talks to photographic clubs, this and the information we have picked up from forums and our E-mails tells us that there is still a lot of uncertainty with image size and format. In this download we think we have the answer. Create a one size fits all slide show!! We cannot make one format fit another no matter what we do and it is this issue that causes the confusion. Here we supply the information in a way that you can easily decide what format is best for you.

Take High res Photoshop files - Resize to your slide show size - Re-sharpen the images and save them as Jpeg's Automatically. If you use images directly from your camera in your slide shows, then this technique is for you. We demonstraate how to create an Action in Photoshop and combine that action with our Image Processor. The result is a folder of images (any number) adjusted in size, sharpness and saved as a Jpeg at your required quality setting.

Sound Editing within PicturesToExe. PicturesToExe 6.5 is currently being tested prior to launch. It contains sound editing within the PTE software. In this video we take a look at what it has, how it works and how effective it is.

Water droplets gently falling down a wet leaf. Animation has been a great addition to our slide shows, but sometimes that animation can be a little over done. The result is that rather than adding charm via the use of animation, we discover that it actually reduces the impact and charm of the show. In this tutorial we think we have have found one answer. We use very delicate animation, but it's impact within the slide show is considerable.

How do I make a Slide Show? - What software do I need? - How do I create the music? - How do I get to the finished slide show? We answer all these questions in our video and you get to see the demo slide we made while recording your tutorial.

Working Methodically and the important differences between the Project File and the Executable file. Unfortunately this has to be one of those tutorials that while pretty vital, we don't produce very much during the course of it. What we do is set the scene for every slide show you will make in the future. So, perhaps not a creative masterpiece, but information that you WILL need. That is why we have placed it second on this list. In reality it should be first, but we all want to produce a slide show when we first start don't we?

Resolution - Format and Image Size. Now here is a subject that will have many of you searching for a quick way off this page, but wait. This subject is often made far more complicated than it really is and here we explain all in as simple way as possible. Our guidance and advice here may help you to set up your slide show image size and resolution choices for now and the future.

Creating a Derivative slide show - Making a Backup to Zip and Photoshop Actions - We kill two birds with one stone in this tutorial by using the Backup in Zip option in PTE6 and also an action in Photoshop to make a derivative of our original slide show in a couple of minutes.

Creating a Thin Line around your images - We get asked this question very often. How and what is the best method of creating a thin line around the edge of images for a slide show. Well, what is best may depend on your own way of working, so what we have done here is to demonstrate 2 ways inside Photoshop, one way within PTE6 and what we think is the most versatile way using both Photoshop a Png file and PTE6.

Basic Animation - Animating two of the main images in a short sequence - Adding an object to an animated sequence - Animated picture in picture. Watch our slide show demo first. Recorded on PTE5, but the same approach is required in PTE6
The Third Image Watch our demo by clicking the more button and see the third image and why its important. The third image is that fleeting image we see when one transition is giving way to another, but we are in the digital age now and we can enhance that third image to add impact and appeal to our show.
Picture in picture technique Click the more button and watch our demo to see what we will create in this video. The Picture in picture technique has enormous creative possibilities for our slide shows, but it is practically the only way we can Effectively show portrait format images in a landscape format slide show.
The Making of The Art of Cornwall. Check out the technique first by clicking the more button to view the actual slide show we made. As well as creating these effects for an AV, the technique is also perfect for some great art style prints that look really good printed onto matt paper.
Using Natural Frames Demo Watch our demo slide show via the more button to see what we mean.
The Time Line This is the best way to add your images while making a slide show, change transition length, move images within your slide show and much much more.

The Cruel Sea Intro title. Watch our demo slide show via the more button to see what we mean.
Montage Techniques Download the demos via the more button to see just how effective this technique is.
Creating a snow storm Watch the short demo via the more button to see exactly what we create in this video.
The Paste Into Technique Watch the short demo via the more button to see the techniques we will cover in this video. Its one of those techniques that is difficult to describe or show in a still image, our demo is the best way to see the end result of this technique.
The making of our Another Age slide show. Download our slide show via the more button and then see how it was made in this video tutorial
Audacity sound editing - Where to find it, what you need, how to install it and the lame file, how to use it. Sound editing is little different to image editing. Employ the same principals and we are up and running. In time PTE will include some sound editing, but we doubt it will ever be quite as good as a dedicated sound editor. Once you see how easy it is, you will not look back.

Creating Text on a path - Watch the short demo via the more button to see the techniques we will cover in this video. Its always great to make a good first impression and that is so true with audio visual. So, lets do that with a great opening title technique.

Creating and then Animating a Panorama - Here we demonstrate how to create a stitched 3 image panorama and then how to prepare the image and animate it in PicturesToExe

Added Dec 09

Creating and Applying Borders or Frames Part 1 - Digital Audio Visual is made up of at least 50% presentation and probably lot more than that at times. A question we had recently is how to create frames or borders for a PTE show. We can create some frames in PTE6, but our image editor will allow us a lot more scope. Using our image editor also allows us to change a frame on our slide show in a couple of minutes, even if the show contains 50-60 images.

Added Dec 09

Creating and Applying Borders or Frames Part 2 - This video follows on from Part 1. Here we demonstrate how to create a great block mounted effect that is easy to change and apply to any number of images. Great techniques that are the basic of practically any border or frame you care to make.

The 3D Basics New features in PTE 6 are the 3D animation parameters. These 3D tools open up a number of new ideas for slide shows and presentations and in this video we go through the basics. As a result of what we are demonstrating with 3D we also start to deal with Parent and Child relationships, which is another vital part of PTE animation.

Added Dec 09

Creating a PTE menu to open up other slide shows - Now this isn't as easy as some of the "experts" will let you believe. The address you put into your buttons is critical and has to be perfect. Here we explain how to create a menu that can be auto run from a CD, DVD or even a USB stick. This saves time, looks more professional and is just more convenient.

Understanding the relationship between the timeline, the objects and animation screen time line, Key Points and Key Frame Time. Yes, this is a lengthy title, but this all sounds far more compliocated than it really is and we will explain and demonstrate the links in this video. Once we see those links, then more complex animations become a lot easier to create.

Added Dec 09

The Smoothing Line - We always hear people asking for more and more transitions, but perhaps there are a lot more transitions within PTE than we first think.

Added Dec 09

Creating an animated cube - There are probably a limited number of used for this technique, but when you complete this excersize you will certainly know a lot more about animation in PTE. Its worth the look just for the learning experience and its rather fun too. Put your children or grandchildren into a floating cube and create them a screen saver.

One of the nicest ways to present images like this is in the form of a digital book with slowly turning pages. We can create the pages to turn themselves or we can allow the viewer to turn the pages when they are ready. Check out our demo first via the more button.

Creating an animated book Part 1- An effect made possible by 3D animation and its one that has bags of charm and appeal. We can even allow our audience to turn the pages at their own pace. Not only do we show you how, but we also demonstrate how you can make your work a template to be used again and again. Part 1 covers the creation of the artwork.

Animating Clouds - Ever since animation has become possible in PicturesToExe authors have tried to re-create natural effects like running rivers, falling rain and even lightening. In our view none has come close to being acceptable in a slide show, but there are one or two exceptions and this tutorial covers one of those. Check out our demo first via the more button.

Added Feb 2010

Animating Maps - A question we were recently asked is how to create an animated map so viewers of a travelogue can see the area being photographed. Using PicturesToExe animation in layers we can now achieve this relatively easily. The best way to see what we will achieve in this video is to watch the slide show demo via our more button.
