More Information
This
video tutorial DVD will follow on nicely from our Understanding
Layers CD. We need to use layers in 99% or our work and when we get into
any creative images a good understanding of layers will be essential. The DVD
contains 165 minutes of full screen crystal clear
video recorded at 1024 * 768 pixels.
The DVD
contains 3 main projects and in each we use layers extensively. How do we cut
out complex shapes where fine detail is often lost. There are a few subjects that
come to mind. The poppy with those tiny hairs all the way up the stem, the cat
whose whiskers are lost when we need to blur a fussy background and in our project
a hot air balloon where we lose all the cables holding the balloon to the basket.
Can we cut around them effectively? No, not really so what is the answer. The
answer is on this DVD, cut them out and then use creative layers to replace them.
The end result is good enough for the image to be printed 24 inches by 16 inches
without any hint that we have been at work.
We also
use layers to turn into a vet and repair the wing of bird. Have you ever captured
that frame filling crisp shot only to find that a large chunk of the birds wing
is out of the frame, yep, me too. Here we put it right and give it a more dramatic
sky to fly in.
Finally we look at the paste into command
to create a presentation effect that you can use to present your images around
your home or office. Not only do we fully explain the paste into command, but
we also show you how to use rulers and guides to create your own creative artwork
for these projects. You have seen these masks in art shops and they are easy to
produce using Photoshop and Photoshop's layers.
The
image below is the result from an awful image we started with, but using layers
and some neat techniques we can do almost anything.

Another
example from this DVD will not reproduce well at 8*6, so we have included it here
at 16*12. Click the thumbnail below and when the image opens you can save it and
view it in Photoshop. This 16*12 example is still a low resolution example compared
with what we produce on the DVD.

This
example is just a tiny crop from the original to show the detail of the work carried
out. All of the cables and links to the basket were replaced using techniques
in Photoshop. WE cut out this balloon and all the intricate detail using simple
techniques. These same techniques can then be used in many other images and situations.
